Purpose of the study: Production of Cortisol from the adrenal glands
Comments:
Cortisol is a adrenal hormone [above the kidney] regulating the hormonal and immune system. Its production is stimulated by the pituitary gland, the brain, the crossroads of hormonal and immune regulations themselves interdependent.
This production is controlled by ACTH and varies during the day. Its role is to regulate the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, to limit any abrupt variation of the physiological equilibrium of the organism. It is involved in stress management and is opposed to inflammatory processes.
This study highlights a 57% decrease in Cortisol production in mice exposed to radiation from a CRT computer screen. The presence of the compensation oscillation (CMO) allows the quasi-normalization of the rate (decrease contained at 8%).
Potential risks
o Modification of metabolisms (carbohydrate, lipids, proteins)
o inflammations
o Modification of Ionic metabolism
