The hippocampus is involved in short-term memorization and learning mechanisms. A decrease in the proliferation of neurons (neurogenesis) in the hippocampus, or a problem of cell turnover could lead to disorders of these mechanisms/functions.
In addition, a sustained decline in neuronal proliferation in the hippocampus during the developmental period of the organism could lead to atrophy of the hippocampus in adulthood.
This pilot study shows a 25% decrease in the neuronal proliferation of hippocampus in mice exposed to cell-phone radiation. Conversely, the presence of the clearing oscillator (CMO) allows the return to normal of the neural development studied.
